the TV forward.
No wires showing, can't even tell it's there. Words come through
clearer now, we are pleased with this soundbar.
The sound bar includes HDMI, 3.5 Mm, and bluetooth connectivity, and switching between inputs is easy. Switching between pre-configured audio modes is also simple, and there's even voice feedback as you switch from one to another.
The reason I am writing this review is that I just recommended this sound bar to my sister for her living room, and I realized that I hadn't previously written a review, even though I bought the device more than a year and a half ago. I'd definitely like all of you and my sister to know that, in my opinion, you probably can't buy a much better sound bar at this price point. If you're looking to improve the sound coming from your TV in a small to medium room without breaking the bank, and you don't really need or want true surround sound, don't hesitate to pick one of these up.
I mainly got this because I was getting tired of the tinny sound coming from my Hisense TV, and I definitely think the difference in audio quality with this soundbar is night and day - the directional sound is clearer, the bass is much more noticeable, etc etc. And I love that using HDMI-ARC means everything works out of the box and I don't need to sync the soundbar to my video game consoles or anything.
This soundbar isn't going to win awards if you want the best audio experience imaginable, but for the average TV watcher it's absolutely a worthwhile step up from TV speakers.
I replaced my inferior 2.1 Sony, bass went bad.
This Visio delivers bass and treble very well. It’s not as good as a $1000 system but it’s great for the price.
Separate bass and treble controls on the remote.
User manual not included anywhere in box.
Features and Performance:
- Integrated Dolby Atmos: Provides immersive audio experience with realistic sound effects.
- Built-In Subwoofer: Eliminates the need for a separate subwoofer, saving space and simplifying setup.
- Wall Mount Kit: Conveniently included, allowing for a sleek, furniture-free setup under the TV.
Installation and Setup:
- Mounting: Despite discarding the provided template initially, the installation was straightforward. It would have been helpful if a level was included, but I managed with one I had on hand.
- Security: The sound bar sits securely on the brackets, even without being bolted down, which was pleasantly surprising.
User Experience:
- Sound Quality: Delivers powerful sound suitable for both TV watching and gaming, enhancing our living room experience.
- Versatility: Smooth transition between different audio sources (TV, video games, music) without any issues.
- Compact Design: Packs a lot of power and features into a compact size, ideal for smaller spaces.
Conclusion:
The Vizio sound bar has exceeded our expectations, offering impressive sound quality and functionality in our living room setup. The integrated Dolby Atmos and built-in subwoofer provide a rich audio experience without the clutter of additional components. Despite minor inconveniences like lacking a built-in level, the installation was manageable, and the sound bar securely mounted to the wall. Overall, it's a worthwhile investment for anyone seeking high-quality audio performance in a compact, all-in-one package.
1. eArc Connection to allow the TV to control the volume and pass through the audio. As TV's continue to get thinner they unfortunately loose some fidelity particularly in sound depth and width. This sound bar really filled that gap at a very affordable price. it really sounds good!
Would it be nice to have full surround sound with Atmos? Of course, but movies are not my primary viewing so in most cases stereo reproduction is just fine for me. I will say though the bass performs better than I expected on this device so not have a dedicated subwoofer isn't missed too much and the width/clarity of sound compared to the TV alone also makes up for not having the additional surround channels.
It would be nice also to have a legit EQ but I find that i prefer the pass through modes on both the tv and soundbar(direct mode) and those presets present well and sound great. I haven't connected other bluetooth devices to it yet(normally for music I use a different system or headphones) but can give an update once i get there.
Regardless of price I like the sound and simplicity however at this price I consider it a very good value.
The one thing that's noticeably great is THE BASS!!!! I can't tell how many times I think there's someone outside with subwoofers on, only to find that it's my own system.
The setup was ok. I had called support just to make sure I did it correctly and even they seemed a little lost. None the less, with the help from customer support, I have the sound bar turning on with the TV and adjustable to the TV remote.
I went and got the $24, 3 year protection an because honestly, this thing does a lot. I haven't even played with the settings yet.
Some of the options like TVOL and VRT:X was hard to figure out because there was no user manual. I had to look it up online. 🤔 All the options make noticeable subtle differences. Vocal clarity is good. It never sounds too tinny or too high pitched or rattling bass like it's struggling. The bass does drop in richness the higher the volume. Probably so it doesn't blow.
Bottom line it's a good sounding soundbar with good options and for the money completely worth buying. 👍
It is the perfect soundbar for someone who does not want or have space for a separate subwoofer. The bass is deep but also very well controlled (no rattles) and can actually be felt, which is hard to accomplish without a separate sub.
Although there is no dedicated center channel, it sounds as though there is one. Voices are crystal clear and distinct.
Connectivity is great, as it has HDMI input and output, meaning you can hook up a streaming device directly to the soundbar and free up an HDMI port on the TV or eliminate clutter behind the TV. I use it in conjunction with an HDMI transmitter/receiver to place the soundbar and streaming stick under the projector screen and connect wirelessly to the projector about 10 feet away.
The simulated surround sound feature is probably the only thing that fell short for me, as I just did not sense anything more than directional sound coming from the front. That being said, the sound does fill the room, so although it is not directional it is still very immersive. There is no discernible distortion at max volume.
I can’t imagine there is anything better at this price point or in this form factor.
The sound bar comes with two black pieces you can screw into the wall to slide it on and hang up. I made some 3d printed brackets to screw the pieces into and hang it above the tv on a shelf I had.
If you have ARC HDMI (i think thats right) it will allow your regular TV remote to turn this up and down without using the provided remote.
It has buttons on it as well if you want to use them to changes modes like connect to bluetooth.
This thing has like 6 ways to connect it to your TV.
The bass in it sounds pretty dope too.
Don't be like me... remember to go into your TV menu and basically turn off TV sound so the sound bar "actually works" *face palm*
I tried to use an old set of Logitech 5.1 surround speakers with my computer, and it sounded muddy and distorted. It was way better than tiny laptop speakers or my gaming headset, but it still wasn't quite right. I thought maybe it was just my poor memory, telling me that I had once heard crystal clear sound that was closer to reality.
Then I plugged this sound bar into the eArc port of my Vizio TV, and viola, that clarity was back. Speaking and singing voices are clear and crisp. Mids are smooth and distinct (I can hear harmony like it was recorded on a separate track). The bass is not overdone like so many small speaker systems trying to overcompensate. Honestly, the large subwoofer unit on my Logitech 5.1 still gave me a headache even after I had turned it down as far as it would go.
So I have a theory about why this soundbar sounds so good. One is that all the connections right up until the driver are carrying digital data. In my old speaker system, the wires are RCA cables, so clearly they are carrying analog signal which is lossy and subject to distortion the longer the cables are (and nearby interference.) Of course the biggest factor should be the drivers in the speakers themselves; they just get old over time and pick up distortions just from being what they are. I don't know how the speakers in this sound bar will hold up in the coming years, but right now they sound AMAZING. You can pay a LOT MORE to get even better audio fidelity, but bang for your buck these are a steal.
I could rave forever. EQ has a number of modes, all effective. The dialogue mode truly does produce clear speech. I like playing music that I put on USB keys. But get a USB extension cable, else it is cumbersome to insert and remove the USB keys. And I can play my extensive music database on my computer via the Bluetooth mode.
The TV is connected via the HDMI eARC input. The TV sound is as good as it gets. And when I stream music, I say again - Wow.
A couple of "not so good". Dolby Atmos does not seem to make any difference in the sound output. And the Virtual mode, although producing more of a surround effect, does not sound as pure and full as the non-virtual mode. But again, the sound you can get is great, especially for the price.
I have been in the silence mode for over a year. I am back to enjoying all of my music. Thanks Vizio, and Amazon for the discount.
I live in an apartment and was looking for a budget sound bar with in-built sub-woofer for an easy setup and to avoid upsetting my neighbors. I like to do a good amount of research on the internet before I buy any device and I narrowed down on YAMAHA SR-B20A & Sony HTX8500. Both of which have good reviews and ratings. However upon watching a review for this new Vizio M213ad-K8 on YouTube by Digital Trends, I decided to give it a try as it is a brand new device and it fits my sub $300 budget. Since this is a brand new sound bar, there aren't too many reviews or ratings available to rely on.
Looks :
The sound bar looks fine. It does not stand out and blends right into my TV base. After a while you forget that it's there. Also, it's not too tall so it does not block my TV view.
Setup :
The sound bar is extremely light weight and an easy 1 person job for setup. The setup for the device was a breeze and it was up and running in 5 minutes. There are very few cables to connect to get it running.
Performance :
I am extremely impressed by the way it sounds. Despite the low price and small size, it sounds great. I have watched few movies & videos so far and have enjoyed all of them. It has few pre-defined EQ settings and I ended up going back to the movie mode for most of the content including songs. At 60% to 70% volume level it gets plenty loud for a small to medium sized room. Even at high volume, there is no distortion.
Negatives :
My only negative for this sound bar is that it lacks slightly in the base. The sound bar allows base adjustment and I have pretty much set it to its highest level. Don't get me wrong, you can definetly feel the base but in few action sequences I felt the need to have additional 20%-25% more base. For the price and the in built sub-woofer setup I shouldn't complain. But just wanted to share my experience. For 95% of my viewing habit though this fits my needs perfectly and I am extremely satisfied with this sound bar.
Summary :
This is a great sound bar for the price. I am extremely satisfied and am definitely keeping this one. I hope my review helps other potential buyers.
I will keep updating my review if anything changes.
